A Letter from Gretchen Mulling, PGA Apprentice

March 3rd, 2020

Dear Members,

As spring approaches and the weather warms up, I am excited to share with you our Ladies Beginner Golf Program. This course is perfect for players who have just picked up the game as well as ladies who have not been playing for some time and need a refresher course to get back to the basics. Back in the fall of 2017, I started teaching the Ladies Beginner Golf Program here at Savannah Quarters® and 2020 marks the 10th year I have been teaching this course.

The goal of this program is simple… to get more ladies playing the game of golf! We accomplish this by providing a positive atmosphere where we all feel comfortable and you can be yourself while learning the basics of the game. For those of you interested in joining in the fun and honing your skills we will have orientation on March 3rd @ 5:00. Look to the “Golf events” section of the newsletter to find more information on the Ladies Beginner Golf Program, our Wednesday-Women’s Wedges and Wine, the 9 holes @ 9:00am Golf with Gretchen, and Couples Shamrock Scramble. The pre St. Patrick’s Day tournament on March 15th is absolutely my favorite event of the year… a 4 person scramble that is focused on fun, fun, fun!!!

I was swept away by the game of golf as a little girl growing up in Richmond Hill and have been learning and growing the game in the Savannah area for over 25 years. My very first golf coach made such a lasting impression on me and is probably why I teach now. Now certified as an Operation 36 Coach I plan to integrate some ideas and practices from Operation 36 into the Ladies Beginner Golf Program. I am currently a level 3 PGA Apprentice and plan to become a Class A Professional by the end of 2020. I played golf collegiately and the game has continued to open doors for me throughout my life. It is my passion to continue to grow the game and make it fun for anyone who wants to learn. I am fortunate to be part of a great team of experienced teaching professionals that are equipped to handle any golfer’s needs whether it be questions about rules, equipment fitting, or golf lessons.

The new 2020 technology is here and your old clubs could be obsolete. Maybe it’s time you come see me at our TaylorMade fitting day. The fitter(s) for TaylorMade will be on the practice range March 8th and together we will find you the perfect new driver, rescue, or full set of clubs. You will also have opportunities for fittings from Callaway, Titleist, Mizuno, PING and Edel, available in the Golf Shop throughout the year. We would be happy to assist you in any way we can to make your experience at our Club the best it can possibly be.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the Membership and staff for the tremendous support given to my family. As many of you know my son underwent a Bone Marrow Transplant in July of 2018 which would not have been possible without the love and support received from the Savannah Quarters® community. Eidson is now in 5th grade, taking classes at home and going to school when possible. He enjoys physical therapy training with his service dog and hopes to be showing off his golf swing at the club soon!

Stop by the golf shop to ask questions and shop the new spring apparel!
