Blessings in a Book Bag

August 10th, 2018

Savannah Quarters® is teaming up with Blessings in a Book Bag to make back to school better for local kids.

HERE AT SAVANNAH QUARTERS® WE HAVE MANY BLESSINGS TO BE GRATEFUL FOR.

That’s why we’re asking our residents, members and partners to help us make back to school better for local kids in need. We’re partnering with Blessings In A Book Bag to help them prepare for their 7th Annual Back To School Bash. At the bash kids will receive book bags filled with supplies and a nutritious meal, along with haircuts, school uniforms and more to get them ready for the new year! The blessings don’t stop there. Additionally, Blessings in a Book Bag provides weekend nutritious meals to help fill the gap for students who qualify for free or reduced lunch.

Monday through Friday kids eat at school, but on the weekends the need is still there and for over 7 years Blessings In A Book Bag has strived to fill that hunger gap.

About Blessings in a Book Bag
Founded by “Lady Mahogany” Bowers in 2011, Blessings in a Book Bag is a 501c3 non-profit organization based out of Savannah. It is designed to feed elementary school children whose families qualify
for the Free & Reduced Meal Plan and have little or no food to eat on the weekends. The organization serves by feeding over 130 at need children every Friday. Blessings In A Book Bag also serves as a local pantry for those in the community that are in need of food services. Additionally, the organization provides school supplies, school uniforms and other necessities for school. This allows kids to enjoy being kids and focus on schoolwork with a little less worry.
