New Savannah Quarters® Developer SunCal Meets with Residents to Present Plans for Community
Development Team Hosts Dinner Meeting for More Than 250 Residents
POOLER, GA., (October 4, 2013) – SunCal, the new master developer of the partially developed Savannah Quarters® community in Pooler, hosted a barbecue dinner for more than 250 residents on Tuesday, Oct. 1, to update them on the company’s plans for the 2,600-acre property.
SunCal is one of the leading privately held land developers in the U.S. and acquired Savannah Quarters® in March 2013 from the previous developer, Medallist Developments, Inc. This multi-faceted community is entitled for more than 8,500 residences and is located 10 miles west of the Savannah city center near the intersection of the I-16 and I-95.
Leading Tuesday’s slide presentation in the Savannah Quarters® Clubhouse was Peter Johnson, SunCal Division President, who provided an overview about SunCal and its portfolio of projects, and explained some of the development proposals for four major Savannah Quarters® areas that resulted from an urban design review conducted by Hart Howerton, a leading land planning firm that SunCal has retained. Johnson also updated residents about a program of facility enhancements, refurbishments and repairs that has been underway since May throughout Savannah Quarters®; and also informed about a variety of upgrades and new equipment that will be in place before the end of the year at the golf course, clubhouse, tennis courts and swimming pools, among other areas.
“Since we acquired this property in the spring, we have been reviewing the existing plans, facilities and infrastructure so that we can apply our team’s collective knowledge and expertise to the further development and eventual build-out of this community,” said Johnson. “Savannah Quarters® is an established, upscale community with fabulous amenities and neighborhoods, and we’re very pleased that our company is now moving it forward.”
SunCal’s purchase of Savannah Quarters® included the substantial remaining inventory of partially developed and undeveloped lots for homes and commercial uses. The acquisition also included the 18-hole Greg Norman-designed golf course that winds through towering oaks, cypress trees and lagoons; a golf clubhouse featuring a golf shop, elegant restaurant, wine bar and dining room; and a recreation center with two swimming pools, two outdoor tennis courts and a playground. Natural scenery is also a prominent feature of the community, as one-third of Savannah Quarters® is dedicated to parkland, nature preserves, lakes and lagoons.
Savannah Quarters® offers three distinct neighborhoods. Westbrook is a 950-acre private, gated master-planned community with custom homes, townhomes and access to first-class amenities including the golf course, golf clubhouse and the swim and fitness center. Easthaven is a family oriented community with single- and multi-family homes, and it features neighborhood parks, a swimming complex, playgrounds and nature trails. The Village is a pedestrian-friendly live, work and play community with townhomes, apartments, shopping, dining and office space.
SunCal is continuing to actively pursue additional acquisitions in various regions throughout the United States.
