St Joseph’s/Candler Officially Opens, Bringing Extraordinary Healthcare to Pooler

May 2nd, 2019

There’s a common phrase that goes around the Greater Savannah Area: “It’s Cooler in Pooler.” We couldn’t agree more.

Pooler is rapidly growing from a sleepy little Southern town to an area hosting the most modern conveniences, shopping, dining, entertainment and much more. It’s incredible to see the growth of amazing opportunities for those living in Pooler.

As Savannah Quarters® residents make up a large number of the city’s residents, good news for Pooler is good news for us. Well, the best news we could hope for is here! St. Joseph’s/Candler has officially opened in Pooler, bringing a whole new level of health care, convenience and wellbeing to our residents. The best news of all is that the new micro hospital is just minutes from our community.

Health Care Next Door

St. Joseph’s/Candler’s Pooler campus is a 170,000 square-foot, 18-acre facility right near the intersection of Pooler Parkway and Interstate 16, which is right before Savannah Quarters®’ main entrance. The project had been in the works for nearly ten years, but recent rapid growth in the Pooler area propelled the project forward. The health facility offers primary care, urgent care and specialist services.

“This community has waited forever, and it was long overdue,” said St, Joseph’s/Candler President and CEO Paul Hinchey to WTOC. “You can feel the excitement that’s in the air just by the people that are here because they’re getting as good of healthcare as you can find anywhere.”

The hospital also features a clinical services section which offers outpatient surgery, endoscopy, advanced imaging, outpatient physical, pharmacy, laboratory, wellness and community education service. Future plans for the facility include additional cardiology services, wound care and more. It’s clear to see that this is a major addition to the Pooler area. We’re thrilled that extraordinary health care is now just minutes away, further making Savannah Quarters® a wonderful place to enjoy life.

From the physicians and medical staff of St. Joseph’s/Candler to the residents of Savannah Quarters®, everyone can agree that this is a huge step forward and will no doubt provide a new level of health care to Pooler.

Lots to Do in SQ

It’s amazing that our residents have access to such world-class and innovative healthcare right next to our community. Yet St. Joseph/Candler’s opening is just the tip of the iceberg for both Pooler’s growth and Savannah Quarters® further development. The Commons at Savannah Quarters® is becoming a bustling hub offering a broad spectrum of fun, convenience and services.

Some businesses include Publix, Savannah Coffee Roasters, Taco Stache (which is owned and operated by a family of Savannah Quarters® residents!) and Nail Boutique & Spa. We are also extremely excited to move our Sales and Information Center to the Commons, where we will be able to better serve our residents and those interested in experiencing Modern Savannah Living.

We also see a variety of other development happening in the area. The large tract of land to the southeast corner of Interstate 16 and Pooler Parkway adjacent to Savannah Quarters® is owned by HD Companies which plans to develop hotels, offices, additional retail opportunities.

It’s clear to see that between St. Joseph’s/Candler in the area and thriving areas such as The Commons, Pooler is becoming an even more incredible place to live every day. And with historic downtown Savannah, just a 12-mile drive down I-16, residents get the best of both worlds.
